Colors of the Deutsch Langhaar Breed
There are 7 colors in which Deutsch Langhaars are registered. They are as follows:
- Braun (brown)
- Braun/Weißer Brustfleck (brown with white chest patch)
- Dunkelschimmel (dark roan)
- Braunschimmel (brown roan)
- Hellschimmel (light roan)
- Braun-Weiß (brown on white)
- Forellenschimmel (all light ticking with no patches)

- DLs that are solid brown will only produce braun or braun/weißer Brustfleck offspring regardless of what color of DL they are bred to.
- When two braun/weißer brustfleck DLs are bred together, the resulting offspring will be a mix of braun, braun/weißer brustfleck, and schimmel.
- When a braun/weißer brustfleck DLs is bred with a schimmel DL, the resulting offspring will be a mix of braun/weißer brustfleck, and schimmel.
- When two schimmel DLs are bred together, the resulting offspring will all be various shades of schimmel.
